Young Bull Elephant Kunnamkulam Sivan Passed Away.

First death of this year 2018, Elephant named Kunnamkulam Sivan (Old Name Chirakkal Sivan), seventeen years old young bull Elephant. The elephant was transferred to another Elephant owner without sufficient documents. Elephant with no legal papers apparently acquired in 2006. He died an untimely death which is highly suspicious. Death reason unknown.

He passed a very slow, painful death because he was unwell for a month and yet the vet passed the elephant as fit to work. So the poor elephant was forced to take part in parades despite showing signs of illness. The owner refused to give the elephant a break from working and also did not adequate food and water. Last week the elephant collapsed but true to form the Kerala authorities kept it under wraps and only today we found out that Kunnamkulam Sivan passed away today. (02-02-2018).

Hope the government will conduct a fair inquiry. There are many more such young elephants across the state, awaiting similar dates

Every day, elephants in Kerala are the worse situation. It is common to use elephants to make money only and Illegally transferred to the elephant. Last year twenty captive elephants have died.
